San Gorgonio Pass Amateur Radio Club, Banning CA

The San Gorgonio Pass Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) is dedicated to the interests of radio communications and emergency preparedness, and provides a wide variety of volunteer services to its members and the community.  Our Club call sign is W6PRC (“Pass Radio Club”).  We are located in Banning CA, and our members represent a wide area ranging from Perris, Moreno Valley, Yucaipa, Calimesa, Beaumont, Banning, Cabazon, and the Low Desert.

Weekly Nets:

Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., 2-meters,  simplex 145.540MHz.*
Wednesday 7:00 p.m., 440 net on 449.520 MHz.
Wednesday 7:15 p.m., 220 net on 223.480 MHz.
Wednesday 7:30 p.m., 75-meters, approx. 3.945 MHz. LSB.
*On the 1st Wednesday of each month, the 7:30 PM net will be held on 7295 MHz LSB.
*On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, the 6:30 PM 2-meter net will be held on the repeater, 147.915 MHz. down 600, PL Tone 123.
All other Wednesday nets will be on 145.540MHz. simplex.

The Banning repeater W6CDF is monitored and used for local contacts:  147.915 MHz. down 600, PL Tone 123

Monthly Club Meetings:

Visitors and new members are always welcome at our meetings.
Meetings are held at 7 p.m. at the Beaumont City Hall, Room 2, 550 E. 6th St., Beaumont.
We meet 4th Thursday of each month, January through October.
The November meeting is held on the 3rd Thursday.
The December meeting is the annual Christmas Party.

The SPARC Board meets quarterly at 6 p.m. prior to each regular Club Meeting.  Members are welcome to attend.  See Events Calendar for dates.

2nd Saturday of each month, 8:00 a.m.

Ham Radio License Exam Sessions:

The SPARC VE Testing Team will hold amateur radio license exam sessions at the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, 600 N. Highland Springs Ave., Banning, CA, in
Classroom B.  Exams for all three license classes are available and walk-ins are welcome.

Exam sessions are from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the scheduled dates.  The classroom will be open at 8:00 AM for the VEs to set up for testing.

The ARRL Exam Fee for 2016 will remain at $15.00.

Additional Information:

Our Club actively participates in the annual ARRL Field Day event, held during the fourth full weekend in June.  We gather at a local park, set up our radio equipment, and spend all weekend contacting other Amateur Radio stations all over North America.   For this event, we operate all stations on emergency power,  just as would be done in an emergency.

Field Day

ARRL Field Day is held during the fourth full weekend in June each year.  Saturday afternoon of that weekend is open to visitors, from 12 noon until 4 p.m.   Come visit us and see Ham Radio in action at  Dysart Park,
1099 S. 22nd St., Banning (at end of S. 22nd St.)  GPS 33.91438, 116.90084.  For more information, please see the  “Field Day” page on this website.

The Club also holds an informal “Mini-Field Day” event each spring, usually in March.  Members set up their stations to test equipment and experiment prior to the June Field Day event.  See the Event Calendar for dates.

The San Gorgonio Pass Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) is dedicated to the interests of radio communications and emergency preparedness, and provides a wide variety of volunteer services to its members and the community.

Club activities include a hobby Club for licensed Radio Amateur enthusiaTraining and Licensing Classessts;  a forum for the exchange of technfd1108-1ical and general information about Amateur Radio;   provid ing prospective members with the  training required to obtain their Amateur Radio licenses;  giving members a chance to improve equipment performance and operating efficiency in “on the air” activities;  a second line of communication services for disaster assistance to the community, local, County and State agencies such as fire, police, Highway Patrol, Offices of Emergency Services, and public service agencies such as The Salvation Army and The American Red Cross;  and service to officials at such public events as parades and athletic events.
